Prof. Stefanos Gritzalis is the Rector of the University of the Aegean, Greece (9.2014+). He is a Professor at the Dept. of Information and Communication Systems Engineering and member of the Info-Sec-Lab Laboratory of Information and Communication Systems Security.

His published scientific work includes more than 35 books or book chapters he has published research work in 120 refereed journals and in the proceedings of 160 international refereed conferences and workshops. His most frequently cited papers have more than 4.600 citations. He has acted as external reviewer for: The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, Czech Science Foundation, Austrian Research Promotion Agency, ETH Zurich Research Commission, Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, Slovenian Research Agency, Belgian Fund for Scientific Research, South Africa’s National Research Foundation, Qatar Foundation - Qatar National Research Fund, The University of Nicosia Research Foundation, The Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology, etc.

He has acted as Special Secretary for the Hellenic Ministry of Administrative Reform (2009-2012).
